Beautiful short trail in the Cabinet Wilderness. Wonderful views of peaks and pretty alpine lake. The trail climbs to a beautiful alpine meadow with peaks around. Follow trail to nice alpine lake. Incredible views.

Perhaps the most beautiful short hike we have ever taken. It is hard to believe such alpine beauty is available on such a short hike. The kicker is the road to it. Six miles of high clearance very bad road. It takes a hour just to drive this last six miles. We hiked in late July and found out the road had been under 4 feet of snow only a week before, so check with the Ranger in Trout Creek is going before mid July, it is way to long to get up there only to find out you can't get to it. The trial starts out with a little climb then straight into alpine meadows and breath taking views. You can hike around the lake and up the other side for some great photo ops. Bull River Forest Service campground is a great place to stay to head out to locations on this side of the Cabinets.

Short and sweet. Drive most of the elevation gain. Take off to hang out with Mtn. Goats and Pika. Lakes are best for swimming in August. Road is negotiable late June.
