Bighorn River: Yellowtail Dam to the Yellowstone River near Custer is a 84 mile lightly trafficked point-to-point trail located near Crow Agency, Montana that features a river. The trail is primarily used for fishing, fly fishing, and canoeing and is best used from April until November.
This was years ago, but I can still hear the wind blowing through the lodge-pole pine.
I remember this ride. It was not much until you got up in the beautiful pass. It has been 3 or 4 years, but I would love to go back and picnic in the pass.
The best scenery is up on US212. Take 212 east until you are up in the mountain pass. There is plenty of room to pull off the road in either direction. Get out and explore the pass. As the wind blows through the lodgepole pine it creates a wonderful, mysterious mood. And it is a beautiful place.
