The Walking Fern trail follows the base of several bluffs which leads to the entrance to Indian Cave. Beyond the cave the trail continues through heavy timber to the ridge of the bluff line before descending back to the valley floor. Indian cave is small. It goes back about 100 ft.
Pretty, shaded trail to walk. Cave/rock formations were near to explore, and the trail was easy to follow on the summertime. Terrain was a little rocky.
It was a great and short trail! Loved the cave part
Nice walk with the kids. Took about 45 minutes to complete walk, and thats with stopping to explore large cave.
Bring mosquito repellent.
It was a really fun hike, the cave and bluffs were awesome. We also did the Deer Run train right next to it, it wasn't that great but still a really fun trail.
Great little hike! Lots of stairs and steep grades but my six year old loved it!
Walking Fern trail is a short hike that has a lot in 1/2 mile. Small cave, nice bluff, rock formations, valley overlook, and timber. Great for kids.
