The Christmas City: Anderson to Noel, MO is a 10 mile lightly trafficked point-to-point trail located near Noel, MO that features a river and is good for all skill levels. The trail is primarily used for scenic driving and is accessible year-round.
The trail is a mix of rural farms and woody ozark hill country.
The drive route is Missouri Highway 59. The features of this scenic drive include the Elk River, Indian Creek Roadside Park, Mt. Shira Stream Access, Noel and impressive overhanging bluffs. The Mt. Shira Stream Access is the only public access along this route that offers a nice close-up view of the Elk River. During the Spring and after a heavy rainfall, look for water cascading off the limestone bluffs.
This short drive between towns is typical rural southern Missouri. It is less hilly and forested than other parts of southern Mo. We drove it in route to a canoe outfitter. Pleasant but not extraordinary. We left Noel, after canoeing, and traveled due east to Cassville, in route to Roaring river state park. That stretch of road was gorgeous.
