Lewis and Clark Trail - Lewis Trail is a 7.4 mile moderately trafficked loop trail located near St Charles, Missouri that features a river and is rated as moderate. The trail offers a number of activity options and is accessible from March until November.
Stunning views of the Missouri River Bluffs, Best hike in Metro Area This is the most scenic hike in the Metro St. Louis Area. Three sections of the trail pass by limestone cliffs and bluff escarpments where hikers enjoy a beautiful view of the Missouri River. These sections require you to take a short spur off of the main trail. The bluffs are usually about 25 yards from the main trail. These sections come up in the first 2 miles of the hike. Moderately strenuous for Missouri hiking. One possible, yet easy, creek crossing in wet weather. Be sure, at the creek crossing, to take the fork that heads NORTH or else you will be doing the full 8.2 mile loop (Lewis Trail).
Fantastic trail with clear markings the entire route. Good views of the river from the bluffs. Maybe moderate levels of fitness required for the five mile route. Highly recommend.
Nice loop trail with great vistas of the Missouri River but fairly crowded
Very pretty trail! The river views are beautiful.
I have a little dog, so the whole 8 mile loop is too long for us. However, it worked out perfectly! We walked about 1.5 miles from the parking lot to the cliff of the river/scenic lookout and turned around for a mini 3 mile loop. It was perfect length and we got to see the great river view! Lookout for some tall roots.
Beware of hunters this time of year. Went yesterday and came across a couple. Very friendly, but not wanting to get mistaken for a deer!
Great hike on the Clark trail. 5.3 miles. Lewis 8.3. Beautiful scenery near the Missouri River. Highly recommend
