Historic one mile loop trail that wanders over the creek, to the old homestead, past a pioneer cemetery and through a restored prairie. Multiple informative signage along the way. The first 1/4 mile is asphalt paved and ADA accessible, the balance is a wide hard chat trail that would accommodate a motorized wheel chair or a regular wheel chair with assistance if the service is dry.
Beautiful morning walk with my infant in the stroller. So peaceful. Most of the walking terrain was smooth enough for baby to enjoy. Very educational. Loved the history.
Historical and fun short little hike. Do the 'contemplative loop' for sure!
Lovely short trail with a ton of history. Definitely take the time to read all the information and quotes around the contemplative loop. This whole area is very well maintained.
Beautiful scenery coupled with a great history lesson.
Easy walk for young kids and elderly.
This is a very well maintained trail, with some great learning potential. I would definitely suggest going around the contemplative loop. This one is very short, but it is still nice to get out and walk around. I especially enjoyed the foot bridges, and some of the views down the creek.
My boys and I visited as sort of a "field trip" during Black History Month. If you have kids, this very hands on natural science museum is absolutely amazing and was well worth our hour drive. The walking trail was quite a nice surprise too! It was very well maintained and the historic home and small pond were highlights. We saw several hawks as well. Really great place! We will be returning in the Spring for sure.
Just did a return visit to the visitor center and rewalked the trail. Superb all around. It is not a hiking destination even though the wallking path is well worth it. The visitor center is first class, staff was wonderful.
Easy walk. Several fun places to take pictures.
High rating because of the Visitor Center, very informative, quality exhibits. Nice restored prairie also on the site. Nice little walk to the old homestead.
Just a nice little nature walk with a little pond in the woods and a bench to eat a picnic lunch. Very fine when visiting Geo Washington Carver's museum. The museum is great, by the way.
My wife and i walk this trail a lot its a easy trail.good for kids too and dogs
