I hiked across the dam and up the trail to the left for about a mile. It was a fairly easy hike. It looked like horses had been on the trail too. I want to make the complete loop this spring.

Love this area. I live a mile from here and come here often. I would love to see this park repaired and the trails more defined. It does need maintenance and running water. Truly enjoy this natural, pristine park.

This is an easy 1mile loop from the boat ramp and back or a 2.5 mile loop by hiking to the dam and back. The remote lake and surrounding forest provides a pristine setting. The trail winds around the lake and surrounding hills populated with some impressive white oak and shortleaf pine trees. The US Forest Service is installing culverts where some of the bridges are washed out so the trail is rough in places. The trail was overgrown and has recently been sprayed to control the vegetation. The trail and lake really needs maintenance.
