North Outlet Nature Trail is a 3.2 mile lightly trafficked loop trail located near Coldwater, MS that features a lake and is good for all skill levels. The trail offers a number of activity options and is accessible year-round. Dogs are also able to use this trail but must be kept on leash.

The North Outlet Nature Trail is part of the Coldwater River Nature Trail System. This network of trails encompasses two hiking trails (one trail is 3 miles in length and the other is 5 miles in length) and the Big Oak Nature Trail which is a self-guided interpretive trail. The area includes pristine bottomland hardwood and pine forests where an abundance of wildlife and native plant species can be found throughout. A self-guided interpretive booklet is available at the trailhead located on the north side of the Outlet Channel.
Nice scenery. Very little traffic, it was great to be alone.
The North Outlet Nature Trail is an easy five mile hike that begins at the Arkabutla Dam Spillway Picnic Area. Lots of wildlife viewing possibilities. The trail begins in a hardwood bottomland and gradually climbs to a an upland hardwood and pine forest with several grassy wildlife openings. The trail is well maintained by the Corps of Engineers. Beware there are snakes in some of the swampy areas including cottonmouth moccasins so watch your step.
