The "Lost 40" is a Point of Interest in the Chippewa National Forest. It is 40 acres that did not get surveyed in 1882, hence it has never seen the loggers saw. So it's full of old growth red and white pine tree's. Very easy walking, beautiful tree's, quiet! Worth the drive.

Great short hike close to some dispersed backcountry camping areas in the Chippewa National Forest. The Ranger station never mentioned anything when I said I was going out there with my dog but the trail head has a sign declaring it a scientific natural preserve and no dogs allowed, even on leash.
