Very beautiful day, and the woods keep the trails pretty cool. Lots of bikers the day we went, but everyone was friendly and stayed out of each other's ways. There are lots of splits in the trails, so come prepared to navigate a little bit. All in all, I had a great time and really enjoyed the trails. I would recommend to everyone I know and will definitely be coming back.
There is a lot of different intersections to the trails. The upkeep of overgrowth is kind of back and forth. Sometimes the two tracks are the easier routes to take. A couple of lakes around the trail make for good scenery.
We hiked a loop to Devil's Soup Bowl then cut out on a snowmobile trail & road walked back to parking area. State park map isn't to scale (finding that a lot in MI) but better than nothing. Hiked down into the glacial depression, but pretty rough back up. Loved being on the NCT portion and finding unique boulders! Definitely coming back & definitely bringing DEET. Our homemade bug spray just didn't hack the elevated portion through the swamp!
Didn't see a single biker but it was raining. Did see some trail runners who were participating in a time trial. Kudos to them!
Lots of horseflies-wear a hat!
Great trails and good orienteering course. Great for camping they have rustic and electric. Great place to go for the weekend that is not far away.
A nice and easy early ride.
Fast fun singletrack
