Rosy Mound Natural Area Trail is a 2.2 mile heavily trafficked out and back trail located near Grand Haven, MI that features a lake and is rated as moderate. The trail is primarily used for hiking, walking, and nature trips and is accessible from May until October.
Easy trail on Boardwalk. Stairs were a nice addition to add a small bit of challenge. Would definitely go again when we have time to stay on the beach
Well maintained and posted trails.
Beautiful day in a beautiful location. As a bonus, it is good exercise.
Lots and lots of stairs. And ticks. It was beautiful though.
Very pretty trail with access to Lake Michigan. Lots of stairs! We came in November and it was still very beautiful.
Was a great stair workout!
Great hike. We went on a beautiful day with not many other people on the trail. A lot of stairs so be ready to tackle those. If you have kids, there is a small section where you may want to hold their hands because even though it's not really a cliff, it's fairly steep on both sides of a ridge you walk on. The end of the trail is the reward when you walk on the beach. Don't miss the meadow loop that goes off the beach as well if you still have the energy. You do have to pay a fee to park your car.
This is a beautiful way to spend an afternoon, or a couple of hours of it, with a glorious view of Lake Michigan as the prize after a lot of steps! This trail is an out-and-back up and over the dune with a nice flat section at the bottom through the old dune blowout. It is a great way to learn a little more about dune formation and the importance of dunes in our local ecology. The stairs can be strenuous.
This is a county park, and daily auto fees are in force during the summer months. Also, dogs are not allowed on this trail.
A really nice hike.. Trail was almost entirely on wooden plank, and the best part was not only do you get spectacular views of Lake Michigan, but the trail end brings you right to your own private section of beach. A must see in the Grand Haven area. small parking fee required.
This is one of my favorite places on earth. I have hiked this park at least 50 times and each time is wonderful. Good cardio workouts with many stairs and lovely setting, beautiful trees and the lake. What more could you ask for? Any nature lover/ hiker will love this place. Can't wait to get there this spring after this unreal winter.
We spent a nice summer night out here hiking the trail out to the beach and then having a picnic. The 0.7 mile trail out to the beach is moderately difficult with about 400 steps that you are either going up or down. There are about 3 total miles of trails in this park. Overall this is a great park with nice overlooks from the top of the dunes. The beach is about a 1/2 mile long and because of the walk is not as busy as many of the others in the area.
There is a $6 parking fee in effect from Memorial Day weekend through Labor Day weekend. The fee is paid at the automated kiosk near the trail map.

This is a nice wooded wide trail. I brought my two young children out here (15 months and 3 year old) and we had a great time. There are a few steps so I wouldn't recommend using a stroller on this trail for you parents out there. You will also find different signs on the trail giving you and idea of the terrain and the things living there. The view of Lake Michigan is beautiful and the beach was quiet (this time of the year). I will definitely visit this place again.
