Bay De Noe Grand Island Trail is located near Rapid River, Michigan. The trail is primarily used for hiking.
Bay de Noc -Grand Island Trail (note correct spelling) This is a long distance trail crossing the narrow neck of the Upper Peninsula of Michigan, from Lake Michigan to Lake Superior. A variety of habitats, terrain, and vistas. Very little elevation change. Passes quiet backcountry lakes, former logging camps, rivers, original groves of hemlocks and white pines. We traversed it in a series of day hikes over several months, but friends have backpacked and camped on the trail. Well-marked, maps available through Hiawatha National Forest. Although parts of the trail are also open to horse travel, you will meet very few other travellers on this trail through the north woods.
