Free parking. Huge grass area at bottom to picnic in. Hike was pretty easy and clean. Views from the tower were incredible. We lucked out and got there when their was someone working the fire tower. They let us in and showed the kids how they track forest fires. Really great experience and incredible views.

Great hike. Peaceful. Gorgeous scenery. Easy most of the way, last .4 m to the peak is the steepest

Hiked up the Round the Mountain Trail to Metacomet-Madadnock (NET) to summit on January 2nd. Beautiful sunny day in the mid-thirties. Wore my Katoohla micro-spikes and it made the icy, crusty snow cover effortless. Great views from the fire tower.

This trail is nice if you just want to get out and walk for a couple of hours but no challenges here at all. Well beaten path that merges into a dirt road used by fire dept. to service fire look-out tower at top. There is a nice 360 degree view at the top if you go up into the tower that gets you above the tree line. Otherwise just a nice walk thru the forest nothing exciting.

Nice day hike, it was 90 degrees out during this hike. Fire tower at the top has a great 360 view. Also a picnic table at the top, great spot for lunch.

There are a few different ways to get to the summit. You can take the trail to the right at the parking lot which takes you to the Metacomet-Monadnock trail then to the summit or take the summit trail on the left of the parking lot. I took the summit trail which is 3 miles out and back. It's dumps you off on a dirt road that you take to the fire tower. Very similar to Mt Toby. I would suggest to go to the MM Trail because it's longer.
