Bay Circuit Trail is a 1.6 mile point-to-point trail located near Billerica, Massachusetts. The trail is good for all skill levels and primarily used for hiking, walking, and trail running.
bay circuit trail travels 200 miles from duxbury to newburyport massachusetts through 34 different towns. this trail is very flat, you have some elevation gain in Sharon hiking up Moose hill which is the biggest hill you'll have to ascend on the whole trail. ive done bits & pieces of the trails in different towns, never the whole trail in its entirety. i have some beautiful picks of the fall colors in the tubbs meadows section in pembroke & some pics of moose hill in sharon. the bay circuit trail was 1st thought up in 1929 by the same man who came up with the AT trail. the entire trail was not fully completed until 2007 & was a long road to make it possible to get all the land properly protected for such a long woodsy trail in such a widely developed area. being so close to boston as it goes around the city like a belt, its very unpopular compared to that of the midstate trail or the AT. as it gets recognized, i believe alot of people will be greatful for the efforts put forth from the groups that made it possible. it was a long struggle to make it happen but its now accomplished & ready for everyone to enjoy. good luck, have fun & remember to be safe.
