Nestled within the Massachusetts Department of Conservation and Recreation (MDCR) 22,000 acre Ware River Watershed, the area offers many recreational opportunities. Recreational activities at Barre Falls Dam include canoeing, bike riding, picnicking, hunting, fishing, hiking, sightseeing, horseback riding, cross-country skiing, horseshoes, volleyball, and wildlife observation. There is something for all visitors to enjoy. The recreational benefits offered at Barre Falls Dam are an "extra dividend" to the main purpose of this flood damage reduction project.

Chilly hike it was cool outside very nice place to hike, quiet and nice views at times, Trails were easy and hiked through Hubbardston, Oakham, Rutland and Barre this day all the way to Dike #3 and back.
