WMRT-Pearre to Cohill is a 5.6 mile point-to-point trail located near Hancock, Maryland and is good for all skill levels. The trail is primarily used for hiking and mountain biking and is accessible year-round. Dogs are also able to use this trail.
Paved rail-trail. (5 miles) Starting at Lock 56 and extending 21 miles to Big Pool, the Western Maryland Rail Trail is a beautiful change of pace for those who have been through-biking the C&O Canal Towpath. Pavement! The western end of the trail is the most wilderness of the WMRT sections and I look forward to the extension that will take the trail 4.5 miles further west to the Indigo Tunnel and Little Orleans and the ambitious long term plans to go almost to Cumberland. It would feature 6 bridges across the Potomac and 3 tunnels.
