easy begginer walk around one of Columbia's premier lakes. 2.3 mile paved path walk.
Lake Elkhorn is a a nice place to walk/ Power Walk, jog ride bike or walk the dog. The view is is beautiful and a stress reliever there are many other path ways to go but all of the paths wil lead you back to Lake Elkhorn, there are signs to follow so that you won't get lost, so with that said enjoy your time at Lake Elkhorn.
Busy but nice to add the loop when biking the Patuxent River Trail or taking the dog for a walk. Like the exercise stations too!
Can be busy. Keep an eye out for bikers, they tend to go fast on this trail.
Beautiful with wildflowers, herons, ducks, and turtles.

Beautiful, easy stroll along a paved trail around the lake. Not much challenge, but very nice.
Great view. Well maintained. Restaurants and Giant across from parking.
Canoeing doesn't really fit what I did but this is a Great Lake. Obviously there isn't a lot of room to paddle around but if your looking for a quiet place to test out a new canoe or learn the basics it works.
It was a great relaxation location after hearing bad news...
Great experience for the entire family! Trail was well labeled and paved with nice seating for an occasional break when needed. Plan to take my bike next to explore other sections since we just did the loop around the lake.
Paved and some parts are shaded. Great scenery and some hills for great leg work out. It is about 1.8 miles around. Walked with a mommy group so wide enough to fit two strollers. Lots of joggers and bike riders as well.
Not a bad little walk around the lake. They have some nice identification markers up for plants and local wildlife. Very clean and well maintained.
Another nice park in Columbia. Trail is paved and great for hikers, bikers, and runners of all ages. No significant hills. Good parking. Nice views as you walk around the lake of wildlife and lake scenery. A playground for the little kids.
Very nice! Easy walk or run trail that is paved so its stroller friendly. Great scenery with a bit of wildlife. Several fishing piers and places to put in kayaks or canoes. Playground for the little ones. Food and convenience stores near by. Had a great time here with the family and plan to return soon.
Short but nice birding hike with the dogs and kids twice here in the last week. We identified 22 species highlighted by a pileated woodpecker, Eastern Bluebird, Solitary Sandpiper and Blue-winged Teal.
Very busy and popular trail. Good for kids and there is a nice playground near the parking lot.
