Falls Nature Trail - Catoctin Mountain Park is a 1.3 mile heavily trafficked point-to-point trail located near Thurmont, Maryland that features a waterfall and is good for all skill levels. The trail is primarily used for hiking, walking, and trail running and is accessible year-round. Dogs are also able to use this trail but must be kept on leash.

The most popular trail in the park, this trail takes visitors to the largest cascading waterfall in Maryland: Cunningham Falls 78 feet. This trail runs through the woods and across into Cunningham Falls State park for a view of the waterfall.
Good trail, well traveled. Have to cross the road to access a boardwalk to get to the falls. Lots of road noise while hiking which sort of spoils the natural mood.
With so much leaves on the trail, I recommend using trekking poles.
Love this park.
Liked being further up on the mountain. Less people.
Nice hike although it was really crowded in spite of all the snow. This route does not get you as close to the falls as coming in from the other side.
Nice family hike, although it is a bit overcrowded.
I completed this trail back in the summer of 2011 with my wife and dogs. The trail itself is fairly nice but is fairly flat and ordinary. It runs near the main road so you see and hear some cars from time to time. The trail crosses the road at one point into and then continues on to the falls. The falls were a bit disapointing to me as they weren't very full and you couldn't get close to it. This trail gets you to the falls on a raised boardwalk and you not allowed to actually go over to the falls.
