Farm hike through the fields and along the Potomac river, with artifacts and buildings! Farm hike through the fields with animals, diverse field areas, small forest, and river views. start with an exploration of a working colonial farm, letting the kids pet some of the more friendly animals located there. Leave some of your party at the fishing pier while you hike the combined 3 mile trail around the perimeter of the park. Starting in the colonial farm area, the trail starts at a memorial, then goes along the river side weaving in between buildings. Breaking free of the farm buildings takes us past cow pastures, chestnut fields, and a steeper hike with an overlook. A chance to relax in the shade with an arboretum of trees, then dissipating into a trot along the road to our next trail entry point. Once upon the blackberry trail we go through to a large field back along the road to another part of the park, an ecosystem with green houses and other things to see and do. Bypassing this ecosystem part of the park, we follow the fence-line back (looking for artifacts and watching for muddy areas). I did find an old 1950-1960 era whiskey flask there which can still be seen on the ground, along with other artifacts related to farming. Entering the Pumpkin ash trail, we walk along the water's edge of the Potomac river, with great views--then back along the boardwalk trail meeting up with the picnic and fishing pier area. A great trail with many diverse sections, and unique views.

Trails were all very well maintained but on the bluebird trail and paw paw trail there were a few times it split into an easier trail and a harder trail, no sign to indicate that etc. Some places could use better signs but it was very beautiful and I didn't see any trash or littering. the port a pottys I'm the front were very clean and a welcome site after hiking a few trails. Hardly any spiderwebs etc on the trail to run into etc. The map in the front of the visitor center is a little confusing but I enjoyed a variety of trails to choose from. We even saw a fawn on the way back. the fishing dock is very nice as well and offers a great view.

A great trail for people of all ages and levels. The well kept grounds offer hiking, fishing, cayaking and historical tours of colonial-era farms. The staff is very nice and well-preserved. The colonial reenactors are very, very good, fun and informative without being boring. There are a variety of trails of different levels, with the white arboretum trail being the most challenging. The trails are well kept and signed and the map is easy to follow. The visitor center has snacks, maps and bathrooms that were out of order (July 2016) with porta popties available. Highly recommend this park for families, couples and dog owners. Not recommended for serious athletes seeking a challenging hike.

There are so many trails here, it's awesome. There is awesome an interactive farm by the fishing pier. The bluebird trail is great for strollers, bikes and leisurely walking.

Great series of trails at the National Colonial Farm. There are 6 trails in the Farm area. Total mileage is approximately 8.5 miles. Here is link to park map (http://accokeekfoundation.org/visit/park-map/). Enjoyable for all ages. There are also period docets for special events, these can be found at the above site also.
