One of the best hikes we've done in Acadia. Very few people on the trail and such a beautiful scenery from the summit ( fire tower).

South ridge is my favorite trail in Acadia so far. Summit isn't necessarily amazing but it does offer great views and the beautiful trail makes it so worth it. Great mix of stone staircases, soft level ground, boulders, scrambling, and a cave! We did it barefoot for a challenge. Very few shoobies here. Don't miss this one.

A very nice mostly level trail along the base of Beech Mountain. There were very unique rocks and cliffs along this trail. I think I passed by the largest boulder/rock it was huge on this trail. If combined with South Ridge it makes an awesome loop around and up over Beech Mountain! Will go back and hike some more in this area. It is not busy here and the views from top are nice but the trails through the woods are probably as nice as any on the island.

I believe this is the South Ridge of Beech Mountain trail. Another awesome hike as part of my loop up WEST RIDGE it was a winding some open parts and mostly down through the woods on steps with many switch backs. Moderate to easy is my rating. Could be a little slippery if wet on open ledges. Will do again this fall.
