The railroad trail connects the Poland Community School to several recreation fields and the old railroad. The railroad trail provides non-motorized access to recreation fields through mature pine forest. At the northern end of the trail the Old Maine Central Railroad line is visible as well as a stream crossing.
Please note that you can park at the Poland Community School. Check the 'Getting There' tab for details to the trailhead parking.
The trail was wide and easy to navigate. Great beginner trail for hiking/biking. Waterfall close by. Saw motorcycles on trail. A gate blocked vehicluar traffic at the primary entry point. Parking scarce though. Parked in nearly deserted fire station lot but was told not to do that in the future. When asked for best place to park in the area, she shrugged and implied that it was a public works issue and that she had no recommendations. Would get more stars if parking was better.
