White Head, Black Head, Burnt Head, Shore Trail is a 1 mile lightly trafficked point-to-point trail located near New Harbor, ME and is rated as moderate. The trail is primarily used for hiking, walking, nature trips, and birding and is accessible from April until October. Dogs are also able to use this trail but must be kept on leash.

From Boothbay Harbor, Pier 8, Balmy Days II, daily Memorial Day to Columbus Day. From New Harbor, Shaw's Wharf, Hardy Boat. From Port Clyde, boat landing, Elizabeth Ann.
Take the boat from Boothbay Harbor (The Balmy Days II) to arrive at Monhegan Island at 11am. An easy 20 minute walk to the scenic cliffs is the Burnt Head Trail. A more exciting 30-miute trail is the White Head or the Black Head Trail to get to the highest cliffs (180 ft) on the Maine Coast. My favorite is the WhiteHead Trail which passes beside the Lighthouse. Be ready for walking up the hill. To get a real hike, follow the trail along the cliffs all the way to Lobster Cove and then back to the village. This takes about 1 1/2 to 2 hours, especially if you stop to enjoy the beauty along the way which I did. I looked for whales, but did not see any this time. The ice cream in the village tasted mighty good. Can't wait to do it again this year.
