Boundary Bald Mountain Trail is a 2.6 mile moderately trafficked loop trail located near Rockwood, Maine that features beautiful wild flowers and is rated as moderate. The trail is primarily used for hiking and snowshoeing and is best used from May until October.
We parked at the Rte. 4 parking area witch added an extra 1 1/2 to 2 miles to the hike through mostly level ground. Once on the mountain the trail is a gradually steepening climb to the summit. Rocky but well used.
We hiked this in early October of 09 with a group of Boy Scouts. My son was only 9 and looking to join. The hike started on an old logging road for about 2 miles then went up a 3 mile trail that consisted of dried river beds and moose trails. We had an amazing time. The view from the top was spectacular of the northwestern Maine country side into Canada. It took us about 7 hours so we had lunch at the summit. If you are near Jackman it is a must trip.
