Black Mountain Trail is a 3.7 mile moderately trafficked loop trail located near Aurora, Maine that features a great forest setting and is good for all skill levels. The trail is primarily used for hiking and trail running and is best used from April until November.
The trail head can be difficult to find if you aren't familiar with the area. Nice hike with beautiful views. We took the trail down to the beach before looping back up to the parking lot, a nice way to end the hike. Lots of leaves on this trail so good footwear and careful footing is essential to avoid slides.
A lovely challenge.
the ledges killed me! good to do a loop hike with Schoodic Mtn.
The hardest part was finding the trail. The map at the bottom of the trail is not labeled very well so be cautious when you are hiking. The hike up is a good workout, if you are older or have little kids it could be a little difficult. It's a very pretty hike and once you get to the top you will not be let down, amazing view.
Absolutely loved this trail. Amazing views. Glad we had help with directions from a local. It was way down a dirt road off from a back road.
Nice view of downeast Maine with Arcadia National Park as a bonus. Not a tough hike. Few spots will get the ehart beating but not a killer.
