This short trail is easy to miss, even for people who live nearby. It is great for a short walk in the woods. The trail is mostly concrete path, although the southern section along the river has been damaged and is covered with sand. No problem if you can walk, but it is impassible by wheelchair. This is a wetland, for the most part, with old growth trees and marshy bogs. The bird life thrives. There are two observation points that would be great for watching the sunrise over the Mississippi river. The woodland area and the trail are closed from November 15 to March 15 of each year to protect nesting eagles.
We enjoyed a nice stroll through the woods. One of the people in our party uses a wheelchair for mobility, and some of the trail (near the river) was impassible, but we worked around it. We saw a pair of great blue herons take flight near us.
