Lake of Three Fires State Park is a 8 mile lightly trafficked loop trail located near Bedford, Iowa that features beautiful wild flowers and is rated as moderate. The trail offers a number of activity options and is accessible year-round.
Hiked this trail about a month ago, the trail was closed for maintenance but we went anyways. It was about 8-9 miles long. The grass was just a little tall so ticks were drawn to us! The hike was beautiful and quite! Worth it!!!!
This is a gorgeous State Park that is well-maintained. We hiked a small loop and fished small ponds along the way. Fairly easy trail for eight and six-year-old although the low spots were a little bit wet a little bit of mud from the last rain. Where good shoes that you don't mind getting muddy! The amenities are excellent here our family were certainly come back and enjoy the park!
if you're looking for a level place to hike, this park is for you! They don't have a huge variety of trails and only one trail head that we could find, but it was one of our most peaceful hikes we've had. We didn't see any other hikers, bikers, or equestrians on the trail. The hike around the lake is 8 miles with several trails off the main trail. It was very level and very muddy due to recent rains in the area. There are ABUNDANT deer too. We saw at least a dozen on a 5 mile hike. The signage in the park is desperately lacking. I downloaded a pdf of the trail map from the parks website which was quite helpful.
Beginner at hiking. The actual hiking trail was very short. We went on the equestrian trails which were....ok.
