I was shocked that they were charging nine dollars to enter. I did not enter.
Trail three up to Hells Point and trail 9 combined is a good workout. Go left instead of right at trail beginning to go up. We've run into Turkeys, deer and beautiful moths. Mostly in shade. Dear or horse flies really bad right now. Definitely need repellent. Small portion in prairie.
Awesome. Do trail 7 for wonderful views of the wetlands!
Beautiful trail! Walked trail 3 today!
We were hesitant after seeing reviews of mosquitoes, but since Indiana is essential all seasonal marshland right now, what the heck. Pleasantly surprised!
Saw very few bugs period. Loved trail 3 and 9 the most. Wish Hell's Point had been harder & the stairs going down- blah. The stables were neat. Did find overall layout of trails, bike trails & roads a wee bit confusing & there aren't some trail heads were detailed on map. But all that is to be expected in a state park we've learned.
One star off for the stupid people we met on the trail. People screaming, doing things that are prohibited in state parks, ignoring posted signage, littering profusely. It was pathetic. Please do not go hiking if you aren't prepared to be an adult. Many of the kids we saw were acting better behaved.
immensely beautiful trails. enjoyed it.
I really enjoyed this hike. Lots of trails to explore and enjoy. However, the mosquitoes are INSANE. I was eaten alive. I used both a spray and essential oils. neither worked. Bring something powerful along in order to enjoy all that the park has to offer. Also, there are one or two points where the map indicate trails should meet but in fact they don't... oh well.
Nice hike. Trail 10 takes you across the shoreline. It's much easier without footwear for this portion of the hike.
Don't forget your bug spray!!!
Great Trail and great state park. Have camped and hiked here and in the winter, have done the tobbogan run. Lots of fun and decent inclines for Indiana.
