McCormicks Creek Trail is a 4.3 mile moderately trafficked loop trail located near Spencer, IN that features a waterfall. The trail is rated as moderate and primarily used for hiking.
Not a bad hike. Forest full of squirrels. Cave was interesting.
We had a great time here. Trail 5 leads to Wolf Cave, which can be traveled (about 5 minutes of tight quarters, ending in a belly crawl). Trail 3 leads to the Falls (can be viewed from an overlook, or you can get down into the creek and climb around). Trails 7 and 10 offer beautiful creekbed hikes. Some areas are deep enough to "swim" even after days of no rain. Be ready for the 130+ stairs back up and out of the trail. This place is kid friendly (we took our 2 year old), but a carrier helped greatly in rocky, slick, and unstable areas.
The trail was nice and worth the 1.5 hour trip but not remarkable. Wolf cave, which is along the trail, is pretty cool. Don't wear stuff into the cave that you don't want to get too dirty like the new shoes I wore because you'll be on your hands and feet at times.
If you have never been to McCormick creek state park.let me say it is breath taking. Well marked trails, an old quarry, high cliffs and a cave to to name a few things. The falls are not huge but are beautiful. The cave was fun to crawl through which the park suggest you try. You have to crawl through part and through the exit at end but is worth it! such a fun place! Will be back I'm sure!
I love McCormick's Creek! So much fun and very different than other hikes in the surrounding area!
There's a lot to explore in this park! The creek, the waterfall, the cave, the quarry...we spent almost an entire day here. We'll definitely be back.
Phenomenal pass time walking the trails of McCormick's Creek State Park with the dense foliage during the spring to summer season and with the coming of fall through winter the landscape is serene.
Exploring the spectacular limestone canyon, flowing creek, and scenic waterfalls that highlight Indianas first state park guaranteed to bring fascination and jubilation. Hiking the various trails featuring diverse forest trees, spicebush, and native wildflowers, of which include a trail through the unforgettable Wolf Cave Nature Preserve.
Great easy day hike with the family. We had four of our children with us ranging in age from 6 to 14 and this trail provided plenty of interest for all. After we finished the trail we went to the Nature Center at the park and then finished the day with a climb to the top of the fire tower.
McCormick's Creek has quite a few trails that can be done individually or combined. We camped in one of the family cabins and did the trails individually due to having 3 kids with us. The cabins are very inexpensive, but nice for the price. We probably liked the Wolf Cave trail the best. There are also several geocaches in the park for those interested in that, as well.
This trail is super fun!! If you like hiking through creek and river beds, over rocks and under tree trunks this is a trail for you. This is one of our favorite places to go hiking.
