Close to where I'm living now. The back trails allow my dog some country-feel since we live in an apartment complex. Most of the trails seem rather muddy no matter what time of the year you go so wear shoes you don't love-love. The main drag though is grass and on an incline so no worries there but then again it's a short trail by itself. The angel mounds gated front part doesn't allow dogs so can't say how that is.

I've walked this trail twice. The first with a group of Volksmarch walkers for exercise. The trails are poorly marked once you start having options to take. We didn't have a trail map and probably walked parts of all three trail systems in there. Me and a friend had a tracking app on and was how we finally got back out but we did over 5 miles and had people lost in several areas.
Yesterday I went out with someone more experienced in hiking and introduced my dog to his first hike. He is obedience trained so I let him off lead with the other dog along for the hike. An hour and a half into the pleasant hike, my dog picked up on deer starting to move and took off on their trail. After 2 hours of searching the woods, he finally showed up where we had parked. Not really making it into my favorite place list.

This is a good place to walk the family dog, but not the best for a day in the great outdoors. I hate to negatively rate any trail, but those at Angel Mounds were short, overgrown with green briars and itch weed, and smelled a bit like a decomposing animal. On second thought, take the family dog far away from Angel Mounds.

Angel Mounds is composed of three different trail systems. The first is a walking trail inside the protected historic site. A second mowed walking path to the right of the main building and parking area. And a third multi-use trail system on the north and south of the levee.
The third section is the main trail system which is mostly flat with two bridge crossings. this area is.currently being maintained by Evansville Mountain Bike Association who are plaining more upgrades to the trail system.
This is good trail to bring beginning mountain bikers to learn basic skills and get used to riding off road. It is also good for night riding and xc training.
Parking is available at the Angel Mounds Boat Ramp as well as at the former Knight Township Fire station, and a small gravel area near the I-164 overpass.

Disappointing trail. Won't go back.
Trailhead parking is at Angel Mounds. To the right of the buildings is a shelter with vending machines. Go to the right and follow the trail to the woods.
Trail is wide enough for you and another to ride side by side.
Trail has a few variations. We rode everyone in 15 minutes. About 2 miles. Short loop goes back to parking lot. Other trail connects with dog/walking trail.
Not worth the gas or time. Will not return.
