A footbridge and 3.25 miles of gravel trails provide access for hiking, bicycling, cross-country skiing, and nature and wildlife observation. Three spurs connect the main trail to a residential community, the Lake Villa Baseball Park and Longwood Centre Park, home to the historic Lehmann Mansion. The preserve's 25-acre Sun Lake empties into the headwaters of Sequoit Creek. A 57-acre portion of the property extends north of Grass Lake Road, providing protection for Sequoit Creek as it flows through the preserve into East Loon Lake. Surrounding the lake are Advance Identification (ADID) wetlands, grasslands, and oak woodlands.
Beautiful open lands as usual, but very few benches. Like to see more seating for those of us who have various physical limitations.
Well kept trail just over 2 miles. Great place to walk dogs. Wide pathways for bikes and walkers. Plenty of wildlife including deer and herons seen during sunset walk. Love forest preserve system.
Nice little loop. lots of Prarie and Monarch Butterflys. Few little inclines if you start from the left. Nice gravel paths few benches. Dog Friendly. couple shaded spots not much. but all in all cute place.
