A day hike or overnighter to a beautiful alpine lake, nestled in a green meadow A nice hike with a gradual incline through rich forests and lush meadows to a beautiful lake nestled in a meadow at the base of towering mountains. An excellent day hike for most everyone and an excellent overnight hike for youth. Sharp eyes may see many types of wildlife, including deer, elk and sheep.

Great little hike- steepest at the end. There is a lot of burned forest before you get there but don't be discouraged. The forest is still B-E-A-U-TIFUL and the little lake is clear and breath taking.

Beautiful short hike

It was a pretty enjoyable trail, but definitely uphill the whole way. Not impossible, but there is a reason it is rated moderate and not easy. The lake was beautiful! Well worth the effort to get there. The area to the trail is pretty burned from a fire a couple years ago (as of July 2016) so it isn't as pretty as it used to be.

The only issue is for people not accustomed to altitude. Trail starts at 8787 feet and goes over 9000. My GPS calculated one way of 1.7 miles. The day I hiked there was light snow the night before which really added to the beautiful view of the lake and mountain backdrop. Road to TH is 10.2 miles of mostly 1 lane dirt road.

This was only my 2nd hike ever. It's completely uphill the entire way up, and although I felt it was a little tough (due to my inexperience), it is doable for most everyone & was a piece of cake on the way down. Lots of little streams & waterfalls along the way and then a beautiful lake! Will definitely do again & continue on a bit further to Washington Lake!

Very nice lake backed by a jagged ridge. A fairly easy hike, so there will be more people on this trail. It's an easy trek to continue on towards Washington Lake.
