White Sands Beach is a 0.1 mile moderately trafficked out and back trail located near Kailua Kona, HI that offers the chance to see wildlife and is good for all skill levels. The trail is primarily used for walking and surfing and is accessible from September until February.
The map location is not correct. The maps location is at Keauhou Bay not Magic Sands. And there is not a hiking trail.
Not aware if there is a hiking trail here, but Magic Sands Beach (AKA Disapearing Sands Beach) is famous for its beautiful, abundant, fine white sand getting periodically washed out to sea during storms, mostly in the winter months, exposing the huge lava boulders along the shore, thus rendering it temporarily impossible for swimming. But the popular sand volleyball court remains intact year round. Eventually the sand returns (thus its names,) and the many body surfers, swimmers and sunbathers to the tiny (c.200 ft. long) beach. Beware of the deceptively strong wave activity and do not harass the endangered honu (Hawaiian sea turtles) that appear from time to time!
