After taking the Sliding Sands Trail and Crater trail to just above the crater floor, and trudging back up, we stopped at the Leleiwi Overlook driving down for an overview of what we hiked. This area is so surreal, especially when clouds and sunshine roll in. Great views for little effort - definitely worth a stop.
Very unique landscape unlike anything if ever seen. Short walk - thin air. Didn't see much as the clouds had settled in but on a clear day it's supposed to be breath taking. Worth the stop on the way down from the crater.
A good place to take a Brocken-Spectre photos!
Short trail to an overlook above Haleakala volcano. Terrific views.
