It was a great hike in a rain forest in Kauai with amazing panoramas of Makaleha Mountains. I started from the Kuilau Trail and continued to the Moalepe Trail and back.

Moalepe trail connects to Kuilau trail. It takes about an hour and 45 minutes one way. I started on the Moalepe side and got picked up at the Kuilau side. Although it was raining this time, I've hiked this trail in the sun before and it's beautiful. You won't see any waterfalls or views of the ocean but there are several spectacular views of sweeping rain forest valleys. Along the way you'll see ti plants, Ohia trees, and many other native plants you won't see at lower elevations. The trail is very easy, very few difficult hills and I've seen people run it before. It's a nice, easy trail to give you a little workout on the Eastside of Kauai.

Nice trail with moderate difficulty

Went a couple weeks ago, very beautiful views. Nice picnic spot at the top. pretty easy hike up and old haul road, I'd do again.

although the views are pretty, the trail itself is very uneventful. double track the whole way, muddy, and boring. not worth the drive.

This is a great trail for the entire family and it offers some pretty nice vistas as well.

Basic but entertaining hike- best part is past the "end" of the trail where the picnic area is. Trail to the right here takes you to a more narrow ridge with very tropical views and eventually a small waterfall. I would recommend for someone that wants some alright views that aren't incredibly hard to get to but not on the side of the road either.
