The West Palisades trail is a good hike to do if you are looking for something centrally located and that won't take too long. I enjoyed that there were many different terrains and that there was a good bit of variety. There were elevation changes, rock paths, concrete, views of the river, etc. The trail was also fairly bustling with many people and pets (this is not the trail for you if you are not a dog lover!).
Overall, I give it four stars because it was a good work out with nice views. I also appreciated the fact that it was marked well with blue markers throughout. The only aspect left to be desired was the fact that the river was only visible during a brief time and virtually no where to be found for the majority of the hike.
Pretty Eeasy, a few decent views if you know where to look. Many variations possible, not very flat. Much Shade
We hiked both the East and West Palisades' trails this weekend. We found this one to be the more challenging of the two. The bottom half of the hike has a lot if loose rock in it and is fairly steep.
Good trail that can have challenging sections. Scenic parts overlook the Chattahoochee river and go down to the bank.
I frequently walk this trail and hang out down by the beach when it's nice out. Not a busy trail because it is a little bit hidden but it's a prime spot for any outdoor enthusiast.
