Enjoyed it, first timer here. It was not well marked though. Tried to do the East Loop but ended up on the West Loop.
I'm sure it was because I was a first timer. Can't wait to run it.
The incline on the west loop (going straight at the split sign) is no joke. Great work out. Might be too much for dogs. Took 2 hours at a moderate to fast pace. Didn't pass a single person on the trails. Lots of spider webs.
Great trail and pretty quarry! The trail is a nice mix of easy and slightly strenuous. Well maintained but not frequently traveled so spiderwebs a plenty!
Easy double loop with short grades. Could jog this trail.
Fun trail and the quarry is a nice surprise/place to rest.
Good quick trip and one that I use to get back into trail shape.
Nice double loop trail with a challenging climb. The old CCC quarry is neat and the creek is pretty. Makes a good short day hike at just over 4 miles. If you have kids take some bread to feed the fish at the quarry. They follow you around looking for handouts.
What a beautiful trail!
Overall, not too difficult. Took the east and then west loop. Didn't go to the lake at the back. Not sure if I would take your pup on the west loop unless they are really good hiking companions.
Went with my wife Lee Ann, my oldest daughter Sharayah, her boyfriend Alex and our dogs Bali and Shamus. Everyone loved hiking the trail and both swimming in the quarry and climbing the rocks. Will definitely do it again.
Had a great time doing the east loop with my fiance and dog. I only saw 3 other people the whole time. It was a nice easy hike. I plan to come back soon and do both loops!
I've done this trail a few times with my pup. I've never seen another person on it. It can be a good workout and the small lake at the back is beautiful.
This trail is rated easy which I feel is really misleading. My husband and I are both in decent shape and we brought along our toddler and it was difficult for us. We took the west loop and it is nothing but straight up for at least an hour. Maybe we should have eaten our Wheaties this morning! Lol maybe we will come back when we are in better shape and have a sitter. Words of advice, come prepared with snacks and plenty of water and remember it is more of a moderate trail than easy.
Literally JUST finished walking hiking this trail with a friend and we loved it! Gorgeous views and tranquil natural scenery. Sweet surprise at the quarry! Definitely going to hike here again...soon and often as Pine Log is less than 20 mintues away from us. Amazing to have such beauty so close to home!
really well taken care of trail, basically a easy to moderate trail just a really nice walk in the woods
