Atlanta's Piedmont Park is located about two miles Northeast of Downtown Atlanta on 189 acres. It is adjacent to the Atlanta Botanical Gardens and along the Atlanta BeltLine. The park has a storied history. The space was the site of exhibitions, a World's Fair, professional baseball games and the first football match up between Southern rivals University of Georgia and Auburn University. The Cotton States and International Exposition in 1895 was held at the current site of Piedmont Park and showcased Atlanta and the South to the World. The Exposition ran for 100 days and featured 6,000 exhibits. The stone balustrades around the park were once steps leading to major buildings from the Cotton States Expedition. Now they lead to playgrounds, ballfields, an outdoor pool, organic garden, dog park and more. Piedmont Park has something for everyone, and offers a serendipitous adventure for families.
