A beautiful serene flat water trip from Hwy 83 to Juliette. Some good spots/ island to pull off and swim or have a picnic. We parked our pick up truck near The small town at Juliette and enjoyed the nostalgia of the town and fried green tomatoes' movie at the Whistle stop. Bought some wine at one of the small antique shops.... Put in at 83... Nice road and parking under the bridge. A little crowded with swimmers, but in the yak and soon left them behind for a quite day of fishing and enjoying the river. Would imagine you could easily paddle through in about 2 to 3 hours, but we stopped multiple time to fish and swim. Nice geo on the island too.
There is a park with picnic benches and a fishing area. You can launch power boat but there's lots of water plants and moss in the summer time. I have seen people walk out on the dam and fish on the north side of the dam. Only saw a few people the four times I visted this area. Did some fishing at the a boat launch area and caught some small blue gill and perch. There's alot of fish swimming in the water. Water can be very clear when there has been no rain. Canoeing would be very easy on the north side of the dam. I'm planing to go canoeing and fishing here when the weather gets cooler. The small town near by is where "Fried Green Tomatos" was filmed.
