This is a short hiking trail that leads down to two large waterfalls and a swimming hole. The trail is at times steep but short. There are stairs in a few places. There a two waterfalls. The bottom fall is 0.25 miles from the parking lot and the top fall is another 0.2 miles. The one at the top is one of the most beautiful you will find in Georgia. The falls drop into an exotic blue, green lagoon. There is a wooden deck, but you can go around and get closer. Be careful though!
Scary road. One lane and dirt. But the trail itself is beautiful.
Very easy hike. Watch for the copperheads!
I never get tired of going here. It's incredibly easy, not sure you could call it a hike. But you can easily swim in the water (if it's not too crowded).
Beautiful Falls at all different levels. A very easy walk to Falls, but all need to know that you have to drive several miles off main road to arrive at falls parking lot.
Nice very short hike to the falls
Helton Creek Falls is one of the most beautiful waterfalls I've come across in northern Georgia. The trail leading to the falls is not very long, only about a third of a mile, but the views of the falls as you approach makes the short hike seem more magical than the distance would suggest.
Be prepared for a bumpy, dirt road leading to the falls. It's rocky and filled with large holes that my poor little car could barely handle. But boy, was that view worth the trouble! I do wish the trail was a bit longer, but the falls here are stunning.
Although I almost went down the lower falls after slipping on the wet rocks, it was a very nice walk to the falls. The drive down the one lane mountain roads is not for the faint of heart. We did it in a Ford Escape with no problems. Well worth the effort.
Super easy hike to a great swimming hole. Kids loved splashing around in here, although it was really cold. The road in is really bumpy and longer than I expected. Really close to Vogel State Park.
This is definitely an easy hike with a big payoff!! Kids loved it and it's an amazing swimming hole on a hot sunny day.
Short easy hike with a great payoff! It was more difficult parking at the falls then it was walking to them. The road is a narrow gravel forest service road with a lot of traffic. There were some tight spots when you met other vehicles.
But so very worth it. The falls are amazing.
Nice falls - short walk (not even a hike).
This beautiful waterfall and the hike trail hold so many memories for me. Ever since I was a child my family has been making (almost) yearly trips to the area and Helton Creek Falls was one of the first hikes I can remember doing. When you first arrive you can hear the waterfall from the parking lot, so as a child from (the wet, flat lands of) Louisiana that was amazing. I recall my sister and brother being carried in the back-packesque child carries. My family always brought swim gear to enjoy the wonderful water right at the bottom of the fall. I cannot wait to come back for more.
Very short hike but well worth it. Rough road in from the Vogel side but doable in any car. Lower fall has a small slide and upper slide has a great small swimming spot that you can swim under the falls. Very nice!
Beautiful waterfall. Short but easy trail. We hike this almost every year.
This property actually used to belong to my ancestors (Heltons). They were Cherokee that were able to avoid being forced out of their homelands by hiding in this rugged landscape. The falls are beautiful. Definitely a must see.
