Nice activity for a pretty day/ gets crowded in parking area! Popular!
This is a beautiful area with lots of trails. Enjoyed it very much! My only complaint is the number of people on the trail who let their dogs run free. The trails were very crowded that day and about 95 percent of folks had dogs, mostly big dogs. It surprised me the number of big dogs that were running around loose - one pit bull mix came flying up to us and started attacking one of our dogs. Our friend yelled at the woman to "leash your dog" as he was trying not to get bit and to save his little dog. The lady walked right on by and never apologized and did not leash her dog. On busy weekends, this area needs to be policed and fines handed out!
too crowded on the weekends.
Love the views of the river even while climbing in elevation, the stunning view of the city and river, and the jumbo leaves that litter the forest ground (in the fall) on the way to the amazing bamboo forest. I felt like I was in another state or country, definitely didn't feel like it was IN the city's perimeter!
Went with our 6 year old and she was able to walk the whole thing. Nice views on a cool day in the shade. Lots of wildlife
Very beautiful overlook from the top of the mountain!
Nice trail with a rewarding overlook on a section of the Chattahoochee river.
Great views but heavy traffic
Beautiful views. Incredible bamboo forest section.
This was a great hike. I recommend staying on the trail when you get to the rocky area. This get pretty hairy. Beautiful area.
The Diving Rock trail. Many variations.
Great trail, lots of different routes. Never seems that crowded, even on the weekends. Beautiful hardwood forest in some areas. Two parking lot access points, this map only shows one, but can also come in off of Northside Drive at Indian Trail.
Great hike right in the middle of Atlanta! We started at the overlook deck instead of taking the southwestern loop. Then we followed the river, through the bamboo forest, to a bluff at the end of the trail. There are plenty of signs on the trail, but they don't call attention to landmarks. Make sure you download a map or you know what you want to see before you start your hike!
This is a nice surprise in metro Atlanta, 15 minutes from my work. We did 4 miles total and it was a good mix of flats and inclines. Beautiful views!
