Rock outcroppings the size of football fields, streams rushing over woodland waterfalls, hundred-acre farms just like grandpa used to have, and fields of wildflowers undulating in the breeze. The Arabia Mountain Trail respectfully visits all of these natural wonders as it winds through 2,000 acres of protected parkland in south DeKalb County. The trail features several new arched granite bridges, a wooden boardwalk, and a short segment over a rock outcropping. Future phases of the trail are funded and in development. These phases will connect Evans Mill Road to Murphey Candler School and Klondike Road with a new covered bridge over Stephenson Creek. Future phases that are yet to be funded and designed will connect Lithonia with Stone Mountain Park and connect the existing trail to Panola Mountain State Park and Rockdale and Henry counties, including a bridge over the South River.
Great 8.3 mile hike. We added a few extra miles.
It has forest, lake and a beautiful mountain rock trail. Lots of varied options
This is a great spot to get out in the woods and enjoy some interesting terrain that is real close to Atlanta. It gives you similar terrain as Stone Mt without the huge crowds. If you get back in the woods you feel very secluded. The Arabia mt hike offers a nice little summit hike kids can do. Take some water as the heat will amplify when hiking on the rocks. The area is wide open because a lot of the granite exposures and you can bushwhack pretty easily through the wooded areas. We only hiked to the summit and a bit around but want to go back and check out the lake.
Very diverse terrain.
Nice walk over differing types of terrain.
BEWARE ON 8/21 my car window was smashed and my car was burglarized. We parked at the Evan Mills trail head. The hike was awesome, but a hard lesson learned to not bring any valuables. The police told us it happens "almost every day."
We did the section from Lorraine Park towards Arabia - about 6 mile loop w kids - great easy/moderate ride
Really enjoyed the views and an interesting piece of history as well. The granite quarry was pretty neat..
So much to see and such little time to do it. Visited this trail twice, but never made it to the mountain. I plan to return as soon as possible.
very nice and open, you are aloud to pretty much go where ever you want. so follow a trail or take off doing a little bushwacking.
Going at dusk it can be hard to see the trail markers on the rocks so keep that in mind for timing hikes.
Very different, really not a hard hike. But the history was pretty neat.
A step back in time! Great geological fearures and natural beauty. A Wonderful place to watch the sun set :)
Plenty of trails to explore. It is close to the city and usually has fewer crowds than most places near Atlanta. And the PATH is great too!
trail markings just end at the mountain top. trying to follow this loop and path just ends. had to use phone GPS to see where I was supposed to go.
Awesome trail not far from the city. Offers alot of options depending on your skill set. Has a rocky part to it for those mountain bikers to want to ride.
Really liked the peak, but approach, parking, how trails were marked could use some work
very scenic and enjoyable trail
