The Angus Gholson Nature Park is the trailhead of the Chattahoochee Nature Trails. The system consists of three trails, The Angus Gholson Nature Trail, the Muscogee Trail, and the Fitness Trail. The trail system follows ridges and ravines along the Apalachicola River while treating hikers to a botanically rich and diverse environment. Varieties of plants are in flower in almost every month of the year. Some of the plants found here are rare like the Torreya tree. Wildlife range from a variety of frogs to wild hogs.
Combing the trails of this system gave me a good two and a half mile hike. The trail is great for children due to the many different animals and flora. The ridges and ravines are not so steep that those out of shape will not enjoy the walk. There are several connecting trails cutting through the main trails so one could make the hike longer or shorter depending on preference. If you want to see the beauty of the ravines and ridges along the Apalachicola River this is the place.
