This is such a beautiful place. The only problem is that way too many people know about it. I have never been here when it was not busy.
I don't know what to add to what the other reviewers already said. This is a beautiful place with a lot to see and do.
Been to sanibel 4 different time for week long vacations. Love this place has everything from sea kayaking, shelling, hiking, or just enjoying the ocean. Ding Darling is a must go to spot while on the island.
Went to the JN 'Ding' Darling wildlife preserve...a MUST do for anyone interested in birds! Many short trails to walk and the main 'wildlife' road through the park is excellent ! WARNING: it is closed on Fridays! While on Sanibel, hit the beaches too as they are some of the best in Fl. The 'Watertower' beach tends to be crowed, but the City Park and Bowman's beach are much less so. Sunset's from Bowman's Beach are spectacular, but bring a light coat as it gets very cool after sunset. Birding here is good too with lots of sandpipers and a variety of gulls to photograph and observe.
Everyone should visit Sanibel sometime in their life. Beautiful beaches, thick trees, great shelling and lots of bike paths.
