Salt Springs and Salt Springs Run: Salt Springs to Lake George And Back is a 1.5 mile loop trail located near Fort McCoy, Florida and is good for all skill levels. The trail is primarily used for canoeing and is accessible year-round.
the hiking trail is hard to find. You need to park in the overflow parking for the RV campground then the start is located behind what looks like an abandoned restroom facility. It is a nice trail with some gorgeous huge cypress trees located about halfway through the trail. You better bring some bug spray on warm days though. the yellow flies can be tough
"hiking" is an inaccurate label for this review, because I wanted to comment on the swimming/ snorkeling at Salt Springs, as I haven't camped there. The spring is walled in with 2 access points and, through beautiful cattails, feeds into the Suwannee River. The water is crystal clear and one could spend hours snorkeling and looking at all the fish & plants. Bring an inflatable float and soak up the sun. The spring is surrounded by nice and shady picnic tables.
