Phipps Park is a 5.9 mile moderately trafficked loop trail located near Tallahassee, FL that features a lake and is rated as moderate. The trail offers a number of activity options and is accessible year-round. Dogs are also able to use this trail.
Well-marked trail through a beautiful patch of deciduous slope forest neighboring Alfred B. Maclay Gardens State Park. Easy, but tracks across as much elevation change as North Florida can offer to keep it interesting. Several different loops maintained by the Florida Trail Association comprise this trail. I completed the roughly 2-mi. Coonbottom Loop on this trip but hope to return for a longer visit soon.
Great trails today ... Well marked easy access in and out. Overall I would call it easy but there wild some good elevation changes; will definitely do it again in, may bring the bike next time.
What a great trail, or rather group of trails. Phipps has a number of trails which interconnect. As long as you pay attention when you come to an intersection you should be fine though. I highly recommend the coon bottom loop for a nice hike to burn a couple hours (and calories). There are also mountain bike trails for those who like to ride.
Nicely done trails. Well blazed. These are numerous multipurpose trails that share and intersect with horse, bike and hiking. Maps reflect this and can be pretty confusing. It's easy to get a little lost because of so many choices. Not a lot of wildlife but I suspect this is because of all the activity from us Humans.
Beautiful. It's pretty surreal that you are in Tallahassee but feel so disconnected with the city at the same time. Only complaint (but it's a big one) I had is that they were cutting down trees around 50 feet from a part of the trail. Kind of a buzzkill when you get out there to get away from all that crud..
You quickly become submerged in the beauty of these trails. it doesn't take long to leave behind the the noise of children playing on the ball field. It easy to forget that you are in Tallahassee while on the trails. Pleasantly surprised.
Beautiful scenery with ups and downs as well. Tics aren't that much fun though.
