Tunxis State Forest is a 4 mile out and back trail located near East Hartland, Connecticut and is rated as moderate. The trail is primarily used for hiking and is accessible year-round.
Nice hike, lots of hills and rocks to make the trails more fun. A little difficult to find.
The trail head is located off Rt. 20 into the state forest. Look for a small blue sign on your left and park on the shoulder. This was my sons first hike. He will be 2 in June so to all the people saying its not kid friendly Put Your Walking Sticks Down!! HaHa. The hike follows a stream downhill with small falls along the way. It says its closed after the lookout but a couple of locals said that's to scare off the pigeons. Great family day trail!
This is my favorite area of CT. This is one of the few places that I know of where moose and bears are in total abundance in the state. It is my favorite wildlife area by far in CT
Nice well marked trail. There's a summit near the end that overlooks a stream, which would be a great place to have lunch.
Trail ends at a pond on Rengerman Hill Road. Trail starts at gate behind soccer field located at the tree line. The trail starts off going towards a school then turns to the left.
