St. Louis Trail is a 7.4 mile lightly trafficked out and back trail located near Winter Park, Colorado and is rated as moderate. The trail is primarily used for hiking and is best used from July until August.
Does anyone know if the road is open yet to get to the trailhead?
This was a great hike and I am really glad that I went on it. The end is really nice lake. Also, the gate for the road is now closed which makes this hike around 14 miles based on signs but I wasn't sure about this. The first part is on a road that follows St. Louis Creek. This is standard road hiking and not too bad. Almost to the trailhead, the road is washed out. To cross it, I had to wade across it (about up to my knees). The trail gets much steeper and has some nice views such as a meadow and the flowing river. The end destination is worth it and is a pristine mountain lake right around tree line.
