A gentle hike with spectacular red rock views Roxborough State Park is a true natural gem, conveniently located in Southwest Denver. The park is one of the best places near Denver to encounter wildlife. The highlight of this hike will be the dramatic views of the red rock formations angling skyward. This trail offers some of the best views in the park, and is less crowded than the fountain valley trail. This is a state park so you will need to purchase a day pass for $6, or an annual pass for around $60. In order to protect the wildlife and the natural state of the park there are some restrictions here.Restrictions - Pets are not permitted in the park. - Visitors must remain on park trails. - Trails are closed to horses and bicycles. - Rock climbing is prohibited. - The park is open to day use only
Nice early morning hike on 1/1. I parked by the first parking are on the left when entering in the park, before the main visitor lot. You can hop right on the trail there. I then ended up back by the visitor center at the end of the hike, and the trail didn't really appear to lead back to my car, so just had to walk the short ways on the road back down to my vehicle. Nice views, only saw one other group of two hikers the whole time. Sections are icy but fine with my microspikes and taking it a little slow in areas.
Beautiful views of Roxborough and Hogback. The trail is icy and dangerous in spots right now.
The primary picture on this webpage doesn't do the red rocks justice. Great walk with beautiful views of the rocks, park and metro area.
Beautiful area, great views and overall an enjoyable hike. Trail is a little narrow in areas but nothing too bad. A trail to hike over and over again.
Best trail in Roxborough in my opinion.
Nice quick little hike! Has some great views.
Great easy hike, even has shade sprinkled throughout. Great views. It gets very brushy in places and poison ivy lines the edge of the trail thickly in spots. Lots of shady secluded benches all along the trail. Saw lots of different animal tracks and scat
I recommend doing this loop before doing the Fountain Valley loop. It's got great views of what you will potentially be walking through if you do the Fountain Valley loop. $7 parking fee. If you don't have exact change at the entrance you can proceed to the visitors center to buy a pass with your credit card. This is a good trail for running. My wife and I love it.
