A gentle hike with spectacular red rock views Roxborough State Park is a true natural gem, conveniently located in Southwest Denver. The park is one of the best places near Denver to encounter wildlife. The highlight of this hike will be the dramatic views of the red rock formations angling skyward. This trail offers some of the best views in the park, and is less crowded than the fountain valley trail. This is a state park so you will need to purchase a day pass for $6, or an annual pass for around $60. In order to protect the wildlife and the natural state of the park there are some restrictions here.Restrictions - Pets are not permitted in the park. - Visitors must remain on park trails. - Trails are closed to horses and bicycles. - Rock climbing is prohibited. - The park is open to day use only
Best trail in Roxborough in my opinion.
Nice quick little hike! Has some great views.
Great easy hike, even has shade sprinkled throughout. Great views. It gets very brushy in places and poison ivy lines the edge of the trail thickly in spots. Lots of shady secluded benches all along the trail. Saw lots of different animal tracks and scat
I recommend doing this loop before doing the Fountain Valley loop. It's got great views of what you will potentially be walking through if you do the Fountain Valley loop. $7 parking fee. If you don't have exact change at the entrance you can proceed to the visitors center to buy a pass with your credit card. This is a good trail for running. My wife and I love it.
Great trail! Perfect for running.
Very easy and fun trail to complete. Lots of bumblebees and rattlesnakes. Beautiful views all around
Great loop trail to see some of the beauty of Colorado.
What a great way to end a strenuous week of 12ers 13ers and 14ers.
It warm here and there are PLENTY of rattlesnakes.
Sunscreen, sunglasses, water and common sense.
This area has a great visitors center! The hike was beautiful with several rock formations. Parts of this hike are in the sun.
Looked like a pretty trail but didn't know dogs aren't allowed
This is an amazing trail with beautiful views. Easy enough for any skill level and doable with an hour and a half. 100% worth it
Great little loop for a quick hike. Good views from its highest point. Doable for the kiddos.
- like easy hike, slight climb
- St. Patrick's Day hike with Mr. Muscles
- nice one to do again with the Mini
- not a good hike for a hot day as minimal shade
- 3.5/5 stars
A fun trail. Great views to the north of the red rocks.
This is an easy yet outstanding trail for anyone looking to do a casual hike. The trail is surrounded by a diverse array of wildflowers, cacti, reddish-purple rocks, shrubs, and trees. At times it feels like walking in a wild arboretum. As the first hiker of the day, I've seen the tracks of deer, fox, birds, and even a mountain lion. I have seen both deer and fox in this park. The visitor center keeps a list of wildlife sightings on a whiteboard, so definitely check that out!
Beautiful trail. As mentioned, it gets a little narrow and rocky (not difficult) on the Eastern (dry) side. Be bear aware when in Roxborough!! Especially with the kiddos!
