Follow the beautiful South Boulder Creek past grazing cattle and spot wildlife of all kinds on this marvelous trail. It's not easy being a trail on the edge of America's most fit community. You get a lot of use. But it's not just humans that make this trail popular. Critters of all sorts populate South Boulder Creek and its companion trail. It's not unusual to see deer, coyote, dogs, cows, geese, and many smaller birds. On this particular trip, the author of this guide even got to witness a mountain lion chasing a deer and then getting treed by those dreaded humans. But that was a bit unusual, even for this popular trail. And although mountain lion sightings may be scarce, beautiful creekside scenery and mountain views are constant. And if you're a dog lover, you'll love the north half of this trail with two trail choices including a cement path and a gravel path. Your pooch will love roaming the trail, meeting other dogs, and even taking a refreshing dip in the creek. And dog-owners and their buddies will love this trail, whether running, walking, or biking. And if a 6.4 mile out-and-back journey isn't enough for you, then you can easily connect this trail to a half dozen other nearby trails after a short ride/walk/run on the road.

picture above is of a different creek in Boulder. I live really near this trail, so I walk it fairly often - there are a couple of pretty parts, and the creek access is nice in summer, but a lot of the path runs next to a fairly loud road, which isn't great. they recently fixed the bridge, so you don't have to walk along the shoulder anymore. not the best trail in/around Boulder, but that's a really high bar! I like South Boulder Creek for a longer afternoon walk in the spring/summer/early fall.

Open trail with great vistas of the Front Range. Lot of sun so wear sun block.
Beware of rattlers in the area.
Parking costs $5 for those who don't have Boulder permit.

Beautiful easy hike. Lots of shade along the way and access to the creek to cool off.

Nice easy trail with spots along the way to dip your feet in the creek on a warm day. Downside is the much of the trail runs along the roadway or highway. Still makes for a pleasant, leisurely stroll or trail run!

As stated below, the photographs are not on this flat, easy trail along South Boulder Creek just east and south of Boulder.
This trail is one of our standard quickly accessible walks when we are bored with the normal in-town bike path walk. Recommended for families, no dogs allowed. Cattle sometimes pastured in the area so watch where you step and don't get between a cow and its calf!

The photos don't match this trail at all. The photos look like Boulder Creek. This is South Boulder Creek trail which is a gentle walking parh along the creek between Baseline and South Boulder Road. It does cross Sourh Boulder as well. Good trail to bike or if you're walking a dog which I wasnt. Ive walked it several times and each time Ive been eaten alive by squitters.
